Aflac Foundation Commits $1M to Columbus Technical CollegeOctober 3, 2006 - Columbus Technical College President, Bob Jones, announced that Tomorrow's Workforce... Today, Columbus Technical College's inaugural capital campaign received a big boost courtesy of the Aflac Foundation, Inc. campaign. Ms. Amos indicated that the gift is an investment in the future of the Columbus area and hopes that others will be encouraged to contribute to the campaign. Ms. Amos is quick to sing the praises of Columbus Technical College and all it does to prepare students for the workforce. "Columbus Technical College is an important business partner with Aflac and our ongoing needs for skilled, trained employees in a number of areas in the company. There is no greater way to make an impact on the quality of life in our community and in our region than to provide a skilled workforce, and to equip individuals to meet their personal financial goals. In the healthcare sector, as well as the other areas served by Columbus Technical College, this expansion will greatly impact our community in a positive way." A final campaign goal for Tomorrow's Workforce... Today has not yet been set. Money raised from the campaign will be used for construction and development of a state-of-the-art health sciences facility. This new facility will be the cornerstone of the college's future campus on River Road. Columbus Technical College and Aflac have partnered for several years to train individuals in the insurance giant's customer service centers. According to Aflac officials, the college's ability to train the workforce played a significant role in Aflac's recent decision to expand in Columbus. "We are extremely grateful to Aflac and its Foundation for this generous gift. Aflac is a company that is recognized around the world and yet continues to demonstrate that its heart is in Columbus. Our community is a better place because they care." Jones said.
