Funding Recommended by GovernorJanuary 11, 2007 - Columbus Technical College received some good news late Wednesday afternoon. Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced that as part of his proposed budget, he is following the lead of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) in recommending that state funding to construct a new Health Sciences building for Columbus Technical College be approved. An estimated $16.28 million is being earmarked for this project. "We are extremely pleased with the Governor's announcement," said Columbus Technical College President Bob Jones. "Columbus Technical College is leading the way in providing a quality workforce for the greater Columbus area and our focus is on the healthcare industry. This new facility will not only allow us to accept more students in the healthcare field but it will also free up much needed space to improve and expand other programs. The Columbus legislative delegation has been very supportive of the College and its needs. When this is passed and signed by the Governor, it will be the result of a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of many people in our community."
