Training the Community Workforce

Columbus Technical College is the area's premier training ground for businesses and industries of all kinds. The College partners with Aflac to develop and deliver a Certified Life and Health Insurance Specialist (CLHIS) program for front-line insurance service personnel. Columbus Technical College also partnered with Aflac and the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce to introduce the program in area high schools.

Columbus Technical College has become a life-line for our community. Whenever we find out about a new business coming to Columbus or a current business announcing an expansion, they are the first place we call because we know they will provide a quality, job-ready workforce.

Knowing we could count on Columbus Technical College was an important factor in Aflac's decision to expand in Columbus. The College plays a major role in the community by preparing people for the workforce and giving them the tools they need to succeed.

Perhaps the most widely used partnership is the Georgia Quick Start program. Quick Start provides specific training initiatives for corporate clients through Columbus Technical College. This partnership has produced numerous trained, high-quality employees for Aflac, TSYS, Road America, Pratt & Whitney, Cessna, Bayer, Kysor\\Warren and Remitco.

Working together with area postsecondary schools allows students to take classes at Columbus technical College and then apply those credits elsewhere. Nursing students are offered a seamless transition through various area colleges, allowing pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree after completing an Associate Degree at Columbus Technical College.

Columbus Technical College will be a critical part of the future workforce development as the Columbus area expands through initiatives such as BRAC and Kia.
